Bula Chowdhury Chakraborty is a marathon swimmer from India who has successfully completed the English Channel (twice in 10 hours 46 minutes in 1989 and in 13 hours 15 minutes in 1999), the Catalina Channel (on 28 August 2002 in 10 hours 23 minutes), the Cook Strait (2003) and the Strait of Gibraltar (3 hours 35 minutes in 2000), 4 of the 7 Oceans Seven channel crossings.

She also swam 40 km across the Palk Strait from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu, India in 13 hours 52 minutes on 20 August 2004 as well as the Toroneos Gulf from Cassandra to Nikiti in Greece (26 km in 8 hours 11 minutes), and the Tyrreanean Sea (water surrounded by Italy, Sicily, Corsica and Sardinia) in 2001, and from Three Anchor Bay, Cape Town to Robben Island in South Africa on 29 April 2005 in 3 hours 26 minutes.

She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1990 and the Padma Shri in 2009.
