noun - Channel fat is extra body weight, largely in the form of abundant layer of hypodermis, that is purposefully put on and carried by channel swimmers and marathon swimmers as a natural means to help tolerate cold water during channel swims or marathon swims.

He purposefully put on 20 kilograms of channel fat in order to fight the cold water.
