David Heron is an 18-year-old American pool and open water swimmer from Mission Viejo Nadadores who placed third at the 2012 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 10 km race in Miromar Lakes in Fort Myers, Florida. Heron also won the 2012 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 5 km race in dramatic fashion. He was named to the USA Swimming Junior National Open Water Swimming Team and will represent the United States in the 7.5 km event at the 2012 FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Welland, Ontario, Canada. He won the 10km race at the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Championships and competes on the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup circuit. He is coached by Tyler Fenwick.

USA Swimming Junior National Open Water Swimming Team

Coached by Bruce Gemmell and Dave Kelsheimer, the USA Swimming Junior National Open Water Swimming Team will compete at the first FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships held in 12-20 August 2012 in Welland, Ontario, Canada against swimmers from more than 30 nations, including Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa.
