Denize Le Pennec

Denize Le Pennec was the first English Channel swimmer from Jersey, completing her crossing in 1966 in 20 hours 50 minutes without goggles. She later went on to become the first person to complete a round Hersey swim as well as the first Jersey to France swimmer in 1966 in 9 hours 25 minutes. She completed the first Round Jersey swim in 1969 in 13 hours 55 minutes. She was coached by Maurice Lakeman, Founder and President of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club.
