Ellen Brooks is an open water swimmer at Fermoy SC and is from Mitchelstown, Ireland. Brooks received the Juvenile Swimmer of the Year award from the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association in 2012 for her consistent performances in the Martin Duggan Memorial Swim, the “Edge Sports” Sandycove Island Challenge and the Sherkin Island to Baltimore Swim.

She received the Martin Duggan Memorial Shield for the Youngest Swimmer in 2010 and 2012. The award is given to the youngest swimmer of the annual Martin Duggan Memorial Swim which is held in the River Blackwater at Fermoy Rowing Club in County Cork. She is also the younger sister of, Stephen Brooks, the first recipient of this award.

Martin Duggan Memorial Shield

The Martin Duggan Memorial Shield is awarded to the youngest swimmer to complete the Martin Duggan Memorial Swim, formerly known as the Blackwater Swim. It was first awarded in 2009 having being donated to the event by the family of Martin Duggan. The recipients to date are:
