Ernest F. Hollings Ocean Awareness Trust Fund was established in 2005 as a tribute to the long standing commitment of former U.S. Senator Ernest F. Hollings to promoting public involvement and understanding of the benefits of the ocean to current and future generations. It supports the 2Samoas/1Ocean initiative started by Bruckner Chase

Following Senator Hollings’ interests, the Foundation is interested in funding public awareness projects with a conservation message, and tackle the specific issues of marine debris, human interaction with marine mammals, non-point source pollution and runoff, oceans and human health, or ocean acidification.
