The Great North Swim is UK's biggest outdoor swimming event, a ½-mile, 1-mile and 2-mile outdoor swim in beautiful Windermere, Cumbria, England. There were 10,000 entrants in 2011 in the wetsuit-only event that is part of the Great Swim series.

It is one of the World's Top 100 Open Water Swims.

The Great North Swim is organised by Nova International, a UK-based company owned by former Olympic runner Brendan Foster. There are 5 swims in the series: Great London Swim, Great East Swim, Great Manchester Swim, Great North Swim, and Great Scottish Swim.
