Greg Porteus is the owner, pilot and Foundation President of Launch 5 Hudson River Environmental & Safety Foundation. He is a United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (Coxswain, PWO) and retired New York State police officer. Porteus is an escort pilot for the 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim and conceived of and funded the Launch 5 project.

He is a real estate developer specializing in residential housing and self storage facilities. He serves as the President of the Launch 5 Hudson River Environmental & Safety Foundation.
