India National Open Water Swimming Competition
The annual India National Open Water Swimming Competition - the second longest open water swim in the world and the longest amateur marathon swimming competition - is among the Top 50 Open Water Swims In Asia and the World's Top 100 Open Water Swims. The race features two distances: 81 km and 19 km and is held in the River Bhagirathi.
The winner of the 81 km distance receives INR 50,000 (US$970), the runner-up receives INR 30,000 (US$582) and the third finisher receives INR 20,000 (US$388) in prize money.
For the shorter 19 km race, the top three finishers receive INR 20,000 (US$388), INR 15,000 (US$291) and INR 10,000 (US$194) in the downstream event.
- 81 km event starts at Ahiron Barrage Ghat and ends at Gorabazar Ghat downstream.
- 19 km event starts at Jiaganj Sadar Ghat and ends at Gorabazar Ghat.
