In August 2013, Cain swam for 14 hours and a distance of approximately 30 miles in the English Channel before becoming hypothermic. She was unconscious and had a heart rate of 35 beats per minute when she was pulled from the water 1.5 miles from France. Cain is scheduled to attempt the English Channel again in September 2015.

Joanna Cain, BSN, RN, is the President and Founder of Auctorial Pursuits, Inc. She is a registered nurse and healthcare consultant who has developed, written/ghostwritten, edited and project managed myriad healthcare educational products. Cain serves as a consultant to the legal, medical and publishing industries.
Additionally, Cain is the President and Founder of Global Academic Consultants, Inc. a global education firm that guides students in selecting and gaining admission to their boarding school, college or university of choice. She is also the Area Director for N2 Publishing, the 17th fastest growing media company in the United States. In addition to a background in professional writing and editing, clinical nursing and nursing education, Cain has experience in legal nurse consulting, sales and marketing, product launching, market research, public relations, event coordination, fundraising and small business development.
Cain earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Baylor University, a Bachelor of Arts in English degree from Emory University and a certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting from Kaplan University. She has also completed graduate level nursing courses from Duke University, as well as technical writing and business courses in addition to the Dale Carnegie Course: Effective Communications and Human Relations.
