John Kenny, professional marathon swimmer and professional triathlete and coach
John Kenny is a former professional marathon swimmer and multi-time member of the USA Swimming national open water swimming team who competed in several world swimming championships. The Cornel graduate and licensed engineer is also a professional triathlete who runs a number of camps and clinics for triathletes and adult swimmers.

High School and College

Kenny was a Pennsylvania state champion in high school swimming and all-district in cross country. He went on to run for one year in college, but continued to swim for all 4 years at Cornell University. At Cornell, he was a 4-time hardest worker and a 1-time MVP of the swim team.

Open Water Career

In addition to working for 10 years on the Atlantic City Beach Patrol, making numerous rescues, and winning numerous lifeguard races, he was a 5-time USA Swimming national open water swimming champion in distances ranging from 10 km to 25 km. He was a 7-time National team member, competing at USA Swimming National Championships, Olympic trials, Pan American Games, Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cups, and World Championships. He competed in local open water races since 1990.

Triathlon Career

Beginning in 2005, Kenny began to race professionally as a triathlete. He has won many swim primes at major races such as 70.3 races and Lifetime Fitness races.
