John Munro

John Munro is a Canadian open water swimmer who is a member of the 24-hour club and the Half Century Club due to his 35-mile (59 km) solo swim across Lake Ontario from Sackets Harbor in New York (USA) to Confederation Basin in Kingston, Ontario (Canada) on 12-13 August 2003 in 35 hours 15 minutes at the age of 52. Munro was coached and is married to famed marathon swimmer Vicki Keith and is a member of the 24-hour club.

Munro and his wife Vicki completed the first tandem (35 km) swim across Lake Ontario from Point Peninsula, New York to Kingston, Ontario.

He completed two marathon swims that he named the Y Knot Marathon: a 13 July 2003 20 km crossing of Lake Erie from Crystal Beach, Ontario to Sturgeon Point, New York in 9 hours 33 minutes, and a 12 August 2003 (58.4 km) marathon swim from Sackets Harbor, New York to Confederation Basin in Kingston, Ontario in 35 hours 15 minutes in the first successful solo swim from the east end of Lake Ontario.
