Kings of the Coast is part of the Milk & Co Queensland Ocean Swim Series organized by John Guise of the Weekend Warrior Events in Queensland, Australia. The other events on the series include The Cooly Classic, Mooloolaba Mile, and Wrecked – Tangalooma Ocean Swim.

The Kings of the Coast is the second event at the Queensland Ocean Swim Series on 10 March. This event gave competitors the chance to conquer the:

• 3.8km Kings of the Coast – an open water 3.8km ironman distance in one of nature’s best arenas, Kings Beach
• 2km Caloundra 2.0 – another new addition for 2013! This is the perfect race after the Mooloolaba Mile and ideal preparation for triathletes ahead of the Mooloolaba Triathlon
• Caloundra 1000 – this short course is the perfect introduction for less experienced ocean swimmers and retains the popular point-to-point format on Kings Beach
• 300m Kids Surf Dash

The 3.8km Ironman Challenge saw Joshua Richardson (41:33) take out first place, followed by Marcus Hall (42:53) and Brenden Hall (43:02) in the men’s race. For the women, Chelsea Gubecka (44:27), Emily Seymour (45:54) and Sarah Thompson (47:24) were the top three place-getters.
