Laura Val, history's greatest masters swimmer
Laura Val is a 62-year-old accomplished masters swimmer from the Tamalpais Aquatic Masters. She was an outstanding competitor through high school and after raising two daughters she was drawn back to the water to get back in shape. She also holds the U.S. Masters Swimming Hour Postal Swim records in the 55-59 and 60-64 age groups.

World Records

Val is the most decorated masters swimmer in history with over 300 FINA World Records. Upon turning 60, she set six world records in a single race (50m - 29.89, 100m - 1:05.16, 200m - 2:24.19, 400m - 5:02.65, 800m - 10:21.68 and 1500m free - 19:38.63) on her way to the 1500 SC meters freestyle) world record. The swim has been described as one of the greatest performances in swimming history.
