The Liverpool Open Water Swimming Club hosts the annual Albert Dock Boxing Day Swim.

The Liverpool Open Water Swimming Club was formed by a bunch of master swimmers back in the 1980's, from Westminster Road swimming baths and coached by Dianne Jamieson. During the past 20 odd years a lot has been achieved!

Jimmy Tinsley was the first City of Liverpool Open Water member to successfully complete a solo English Channel swim. This was subsequently followed by up by the first successful relay swim in 1990. Since then there have been many more triumphant English Channel swims including the first Junior team in 2005. We also hold the World Record for the quickest relay swim across the Northern Channel, between Scotland and Ireland.
