Luke (Mac) Teskey an excellent swimmer at Buck Dawson's Canadian Camps, Mac placed high in several Four Mile USS National Long Distance cable swims. Unfortunately, Mac was diagnosed with testicular cancer and other health problems. He had two-thirds of a lung surgically removed. Following various therapies the cancer went into remission and Mac resumed swimming. In 1984 he completed his comeback, by winning the USS Long Distance Championship. Mac is an excellent example of dedication to the sport of distance swimming and a role model for all to follow.
Luke was the 1984 recipient of the Glen S. Hummer Award recipient, an award given to the individual who makes the greatest contribution to the open water swimming in the United States.
