MARNATON eDreams Cap de Creus - Cadaqués
MARNATON eDreams Cap de Creus - Cadaqués is an annual open water swimming event held in Catalonia (northern), Spain in September where swimmers traverse 6.5 km between the Cap de Creus and Cadaqués. The journey will begin in Cala Jugadora (in the Parque Natural de Cap de Creus) to the Platja Gran de Cadaqués with a maximum field of 600 swimmers of all levels. Aid stations are included in anchored boats moored along the route that are clearly marked with orange flags.
The first MARNATON eDreams Cap de Creus - Cadaqués, held on 12 September 2008, saw 190 out of 200 swimmers complete the event with Dani Serra winning the men's division in 1 hour 31 minutes 17 seconds and Merce Oliveras winning the women's division in 1 hour 43 minutes 55 seconds.
MARNATON was created by Miguel Rahola together with Mirentxu Vignau and a host of other open water swimming collaborators in the Catalonia region of Spain. They cleverly combined the words MAR (sea), NATACIÓN (swimming) and MARATHON to establish the brand MARNATON which organises the MARNATON eDreams Cap de Creus - Cadaqués as well as the MARNATON eDreams Garraf - Sitges and the MARNATON eDreams de la Luna.
