Mary T. Meagher
Mary Terstegge ("Mary T.") Meagher Plant (born 27 October 1964 in Louisville, Kentucky) is a 2-time Olympic champion and former world record holder with two of the greatest swimming performances of all time: 100m (57.93) and 200m butterfly (2:05.96) both set in 1981 that stood as the world records for 18 and 19 years respectively.
Meagher was expected to compete for medals at the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games; however, the United States Olympic team boycotted the Olympics. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Meagher won gold medals in both the 100m and 200m butterfly races, and a gold on the women's 400m medley relay. Returning to compete at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Meagher won a bronze in the 200m butterfly.
 Swimming Career
Meagher won 24 America swimming titles and gave one of the most memorable performances in competitive swimming in 1981. At the meet, Meagher set world records in both the 100m and 200m butterfly. Both times would stand as world records for nearly two decades.
