Mooloolaba Mile is part of the Milk & Co Queensland Ocean Swim Series organized by John Guise of the Weekend Warrior Events in Queensland, Australia. The other events on the series include The Cooly Classic, Kings of the Coast, and Wrecked – Tangalooma Ocean Swim.

Mooloolaba Mile's popularity was overwhelming. With over 600 competitors in its first year, it is expected to be a fast mover in the ocean swimming world. The Mooloolaba Mile kicked off the Queensland Ocean Swim Series on 17 February 2013 with three races held on one of the Sunshine Coast’s best beaches:

• Mooloolaba Mile – an iconic open water distance for elite swimmers but also well within reach for beginners
• Mooloolaba Half Mile – an open water half mile (800m) course
• The ever-popular 300m Kids Surf Dash (free for kids 8 years and older)

George O'Brien (16:42), Codie Grimsey (16:46) and Joshua Richardson (16:57) took the top three places in the Mooloolaba Mile men's event. Chelsea Gubecka (18:10), Kareena Lee (18:54) and Ella Brown (19:11) were the top three finishers overall in the women's event.
