Natalya Pankina
Natalia "Natalya" Pankina (Russian: Наталия Панкина) is a former world-class open water swimmer from Russia. She successfully swam the English Channel in 2007 in a fast time of 8 hours 11 minutes. She narrowly missed a medal in the 2007 FINA World Championships, coming 5th in the 25 km marathon swimming event, just 10 seconds behind the bronze medalist. Pankina is currently an administrator with the United Arab Emirates and was responsible for the Dubai 2010 organising committee of the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and the Dubai International Open Water Swimming Championships in April 2014.
