Otto Kammerich

Otto Kammerich was an outstanding pool and open water swimmer from Germany who was inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 1968 as an Honour Swimmer.

Kammerich was a member of the German Olympic swim team. In 1925, Otto swam 36 miles in 22 hours and 56 miles across the Bay of Danzig. He also swam in the Baltic Sea for 43 hours 15 minutes from Fehmarn Island to Warnemünde in 1928 to join the 24-hour club. In 1928, he set a 46-hour endurance record when he completed several thousand laps of a 44-foot basin.
