Paul Chotteau

Paul Chotteau (1 May 1898 - October 1963) was a famed violinist and an open water swimmer from France who completed a crossing of the Catalina Channel from Catalina Island to the California mainland in July 1936 in 33 hours 50 minutes to join the 24-hour club. He also attempted a swim from Santa Barbara Island to Venice on the California mainland that was aborted after 44 miles in 1938.
