Penfield Beach is located at 323 Fairfield Beach Road in Connecticut. Penfield Beach is a 3.5=acre beachfront property that is a great place to swim and sun along the Long Island Sound. It offers a long stretch of sandy beach which abutts Rickards Beach. Part of the Penfield Complex, the property boasts two waterfront Banquet Facilities, sailboat racks, lockers to rent for the season or for the day, a large covered deck, handicapped accessibility and bathroom facilities. It is site of the annual 5.2-mile Cold Water Challenge.

Penfield Beach is free and open to the public, however, from Memorial Day Saturday to Labor Day a beach sticker is reqiuired to park in the lot. Vehicles without a beach sticker may pay a daily fee of $20.00 on Weekdays and $50.00 on Weekends & Holidays at the gate. Penfield Beach is open with lifeguards on duty weekends only beginning 24 May through 15 June. The full-time season start 16 June. Beach Stickers and Lake Passes are required from Memorial Day Saturday to Labor Day.

The 2014 Cold Water Classic is a 5.2-mile ocean swim in Penfield Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut on 14 May 2014.

2013 Cold Water Challenge

The Cold Water Classic was started with an inaugural Cold Water Challenge in 2013, a 2.6-mile jetty-to-jetty ocean swim in Penfield Beach, established by Andy Davis and held in November where the water was south of 60ºF (15.5ºC) and as low as 55ºF (12ºC).
