Seal Beach is a coastal city in Orange County, California with a Mediterranean climate. It lies between Long Beach and Huntington Beach. The town attracts many during the summer and has been the marathon swimming training ground for many accomplished open water swimmers including Lynne Cox, Penny Dean, John York, Lexie Kelly, and Hank Wise.

It is also the start of the 40.9-mile (65.9 km) OC Coast To Coast Boast, an 11-day stage swim along the entire coast of Orange County in Southern California, and the annual Seal Beach Rough Water Swim as well as the Michele Daschbach Fast Memorial Ocean Swim and the Michele Fast Memorial Swim @ Naples Island.
