Crowdfunding

Crowd funding (alternately crowd financing, equity crowdfunding, or hyper funding) describes the collective effort of individuals who network and pool their resources, usually via the Internet, to support efforts initiated by other people or organizations. Crowd funding can also refer to the funding of a company by selling small amounts of equity to many investors and is used in support of a wide variety of activities, including disaster relief, citizen journalism, support of artists by fans, political campaigns, start-up company funding, movie or free software development, inventions development and scientific research.

Crowdfunding can actually replace formal and customary strategies for raising support with a more influential approach. Along with the support of local fans, there are also international supporters. Together, they can subsidize an individual, an event or a project. The right to gain entrance to qualified information further spreads awareness of the effort. There are numerous sites committed to crowdfunding reasons. Some focus on disaster relief. Others are focused on the development of new projects. Of course, there is also music, abstractions, clinic bills, and political campaigns. It was not until very recently, however, that crowdfunding was recognized as applicable to the support of athletes.

Crowdfunding is legitimate, established and effective. Popular crowdfunding platforms in the business and artistic realms include Kickstarter, Indiegogo, RocketHub, Fundable, and Crowdfunder.

Crowdfunding in the [[open water swimming world include the documentary film, DRIVEN, and Oru Kayak which was funded with crowd funding via Kickstarter in 35 days.
