noun - Swimming Is Medicine (or Swimming Wellness) is an aquatic-based program developed by Open Water Source. The 8-week session aimed at corporate fitness programs encourages and supports working adults and their families and neighbors to take up swimming as a form of exercise and preventative medicine. It combines pool swimming with POW (Pool Open Water) sessions and open water swimming.

Origin

Usage dating to circa 2012 from Steven Munatones in Huntington Beach, California influenced by the American College of Sports Medicine's Exercise is Medicine initiative.
