The TOWER 26® Wednesday Beach Swim starts at 6:30 am promptly. The customary warm-up sand run starts at 6:15 am.
Arrive early allowing adequate time for parking, then listen carefully to workout instructions. Acute attention to course and workout directions facilitates a positive experience for all. Pertinent education will be provided specific to your triathlon open water needs.
Be Race Ready and sharpen your open water skills among fellow triathletes and swimmers.
Intensive two buoy circuits with 2 minute break between circuits. A special "M" course is set up occasionally. This is NOT an absolute beginner workout. You must be able to swim 1,000 yards without stopping; approximately 2:45/100 yard speed; about 45 minute mile speed or faster; 25 minutes for short Malibu tri; 1-hour for a 70.3 swim; or under 2 hours for an Ironman swim. Wetsuits strongly recommended.
Tower 26 lifeguard stand, Santa Monica beach (about 1 mile south of Santa Monica Pier where Ocean Pk meets Barnard Way). Meet at lifeguard tower 26 parking lot, located at the corner of Barnard Way and Ocean Park Blvd. in the city of Santa Monica. Lot opens at 5:30 am for payment.
Water temperature varies throughout the year from a low in the mid-50s to a high in the low 70s (Fahrenheit).
