The Swim Across America Tampa Bay Open Water Swim is held on Clearwater Beach in Tampa Bay on 5 May 2012. Swimmers of all skill levels are welcome to join the event to raise money for Moffitt Cancer Center. Participants can swim as an individual or as a team to honor loved ones who have been affected by cancer. It is organized by Ron Collins and his wife and cancer-survivor Rebecca Collins.

Contingency Plan

In case of bad weather or surf conditions the event committee will make a decision on 4 May. If the event is postponed to 6 May.

Each swimmer 18 & older will be encouraged to raise a minimum of US$500 by the day of the event. The suggested fundraising minimum for those under 18 is US$250.

Swimmers & Teams

A person may elect to swim alone, or be part of a team. Many colleagues will form corporate teams, or teams may be formed in honor or memory of a loved one. All teams are inspirational and rewarding for those involved with Swim Across America.

The Tampa Bay Open Water Swim always needs land volunteers and kayakers (who must bring their own kayak).

All donations are tax-deductible and proceeds will go to Moffitt Cancer Center. Donors may support the swimmer of their choice by making an online donation or send a check, payable to Swim Across America, to Swim Across America, 19046 Bruce B Downs Blvd #124, Tampa, FL 33647
