noun, adjective - Three-way (or three-way crossing is a solo open water swim or a relay that continues three consecutive times across a channel, lake, river or other open body of water. Traditionally, there can be up to a ten-minute break at the shoreline between each crossing.

The swimmer set the record for a three-way crossing in the Catalina Channel.

The relay negative split its three-way crossing of the English Channel, swimming one hour faster in the second crossing than the first.
