Cerys Thomas is a 38-year-old British open water swimmer, ice swimmer, Ironman triathlete, and Ice Ironman who serves as an International Ice Swimming Association official. Born in Gibraltar he has lived most of his life in Sheffield, England. He swam competitively from the age of 7 until he was 16, then played water polo for four years, and qualified as a lifeguard. He completed his Assistant Swim Teachers Qualification and worked for Omega Sports TIming at numerous international swimming events around England. He qualified to represent Great Britain at the European Long Course Age Group Triathlon Championships in Weymouth. He trains with the Yorkshire Outdoor Swimmers.
Ice Swimming Career Highlights
- He completed an ice swim on 10 February 2016 at the Harthill Reservoir in Rotherham in 5.0°C water temperature in 34 minutes 11 seconds.
- He completed a 1.7 km chill swim on 14 November 2015 at the Harthill Reservoir in 8.8°C water temperature in 34 minutes 46 seconds.
Triathlon Career Highlights
- He completed the 2015 IMUK triathlon and 2015 Challenge Weymouth triathlon that serves as the Long Distance European Championships.
- He became an Ice Ironman.
