Dennis Miller

Dennis Miller (died 24 May 2019) was the Liaison of the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee and a Vice President of the FINA Bureau from Fiji. He also served as the Executive Director of the Oceania National Olympic Committees based out of Suva, Fiji.

Honours
- He was an Honour Administrator inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in its Class of 2014. He was inducted in Cork, Ireland at the annual International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame ceremonies.
- He received the 2015 Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Florida.

A graduate of the University of the South Pacific, Suva (1965) and the Australian National University, Canberra (1969 with a Bachelor of Economics/ Bachelor of Arts – Asian Studies), Miller's career took him around the world:

FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee
The FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee (TOWSC) is a group of experienced open water swimming volunteer experts from around the world who administers and officiates the pro and elite open water races in the world. They also organize clinics and serve as referees, judges and officials at major international competitions and write the rules and procedures that govern these competitions.

Olympic 10K Marathon Swim
As members of the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee, American Sid Cassidy, Australian Christopher Guesdon and Miller literally mapped out the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim concept on a napkin in a restaurant. This revolutionary plan eventually led to the sport of open water swimming being added to the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
