Jeannie Zappe is a 53-year-old American open water swimmer from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania who is a member of the Half Century Club.
Open Water Swimming Career[edit]
- Louise Hyder-Darlington, Jeannie Zappe and Hugh Darlington were part of a six-member team that completed a Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming for relays.
- Manhattan Island Marathon Swim on 13 September 2014 in 9 hours 25 minutes as part of the Channeling Greatness relay with Michelle White, Hugh Darlington, Sophie Ruthenbar, Louise Darlington, Jeannie Zappe and Susan Czechowski.
- Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland on 15 September 2015 in 11 hours 1 minute 41 seconds with Jeannie Zappe, Jacqueline Cole, Louise Darlington, Michelle White, Janine Serell and Hugh Darlington.
- English Channel from England to France in 14 hours 20 minutes under the escort of Neil Streeter under the auspices of the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation
- She completed the 15.7-mile (25.2 km) Stage 6 of the 2016 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim in New York.
- She participate in the Selkie & the Sirens relay that completed the first circumnavigation swim around Santa Cruz Island on 27 September 2017 on 39 hours 58 minutes 12 seconds. The swimmers included Louise Darlington, Michelle Premeaux McConica, Claudia Rose, Carol-lynn Swol, and Diana Corbin.
- On 14 June 2019, she finished 6th in the 31.8 km The Beast Stage 5 of the 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim in New York in 9 hours 38 minutes 2 seconds at the age of 52.
- On 17 August 2019, she finished 12th in the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Swim around Manhattan Island in New York City in 9 hours 1 minute 30 seconds at the age of 53.
- On 16-18 September 2020, she served as an escort crew member for Caroline Block's 52 hour 24 minute 103.6 km two-way crossing of Lake George in New York.
