T. Scott Coleman

T. Scott Coleman is an Insuling Dependent Diabetes who is a member of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. He has swum four of the seven channels in the Oceans Seven: the Strait of Gibraltar, the English Channel, the Catalina Channel and the Cook Strait. He is a member of the Half Century Club for his swim across the Cook Strait at the age of 53 from North Island to South Island in 2007 in 10 hours 27 minutes.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- On 16 August 1996, he crossed the 33.8 km English Channel from England to France in 11 hours 54 minutes at the age of 42.
- On 11 July 1998, he finished 12th in the 45.9 km Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in New York in 8 hours 38 minutes 2 seconds at the age of 44.
- On 25 September 1999, he completed a 13.7 km Malibu Polar Bear Catalina Island Swim in Catalina Island, California in 3 hours 33 minutes 18 seconds
- On 22 April 2000, he finished 7th in the 37 km Tampa Bay Marathon Swim in Florida in 12 hours 41 minutes 33 seconds at the age of 45.
- On 15 July 2000, he finished 15th in the 14 km Seal Beach Rough Water Swim in Seal Beach, California in 4 hours 19 minutes 5 seconds at the age of 46.
- On 15 August 2000, he completed the 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 12 hours 41 minutes 43 seconds to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and the Grand Slam of Open Water Swimming at the age of 46.
- On 15 June 2002, he completed a 10 km swim in Hartwell Lake in 2 hours 47 minutes 18 seconds at the age of 47.
- On 10 July 2004, he completed a 10 km swim in Huntington Bay, New York in 2 hours 56 minutes 14 seconds at the age of 50.
- On 8 February 2007, he completed a 23 km crossing of the Cook Strait from North Island to South Island in New Zealand in 10 hours 27 minutes 32 seconds at the age of 52.
- On 1 August 2009, he finished 40th in the 10 km Harbor Springs Coastal Crawl in 3 hours 32 minutes 43 seconds at the age of 55.
- He completed a 14.4 km crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco.
- He completed the Long Island Sound 25K marathon swim in New York.
- He completed the 20.1 km Swim Around Key West in Florida.
