Ulla Hester is the race director of the Charles River Swim and Vice President of the Charles River Swimming Club who came to Boston from Germany via California. After training in the Danube in Vienna, participating in the Alcatraz swim in San Francisco and swimming the Hudson River in New York City, the Charles River seemed like the logical next step. A swimmer, triathlete and chocolate lover in her spare time, she is an urban planner in her day job. Hester currently swims with the MIT Masters team.
Charles River Swimming Club
The Charles River Swimming Club was founded in 2005 with the dual purpose of organizing competitive swimming events in the Charles River and facilitating the return of public river swimming. Its main event is a one-mile swim in the Charles River basin called the Charles River One Mile Swim, annually held in early June.
