The "Wild Bill" Yorzyk Swim & Paddle Challenge is a 3-mile, 2-mile, and 1-mile open water swim 1-mile Paddle Board Challenge, and 400 yard Fun Swim held in Brookfield Beach in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

Namesake

Dr. William 'Wild Bill' Yorzyk (died at the age of 87 in 2020) was an American swimmer and Olympic gold medalist in 200m butterfly in the 1956 Olympics (2:19.3) from Massachusetts. He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame as an Honor Swimmer in the Class of 1971 and the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1976. He set a total of 11 world records in his career, including in the 200m butterfly, 400m IM, 400m medley relay, and 800m freestyle relay.
