Tappi Misaki
Tappi Misaki (竜飛崎) is the westernmost cape of the Tsugaru Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture on the main island of Honshu in Japan. It faces Hokkaido and the Tsugaru Channel. Together with the Shimokita Peninsula, it encloses Mutsu Bay.
Tsugaru Channel
It is one of the optional starting points for swimmers and relays that attempt to cross the Tsugaru Channel, but they have to fight the Tsugaru Current between Honshu and Hokkaido. It is the starting point of the Tappi Misaki Route.
Tappi Misaki Swimming
Steven Munatones has swum himself to and from Hokkaido and Cape Tappi across the Tsugaru Channel and helped Stephen Redmond of Ireland, Darren Miller of the USA, Mark Sowerby of Australia, and Petar Stoychev of Bulgaria cross the 19.5 km channel.
