AMAM or Team Agar is a group of Japanese designers (Kosuke Araki, Noriaki Maetani, and Akira Muraoka) that created Agar Plasticity, a project that explores using marine algae in packaging. Agar Plasticity won the grand prize at the Lexus Design Awards global competition. The Lexus Design Award is an international design competition that supports emerging designers working on ideas that improve the planet.
Team Agar with Kosuke Araki, Noriaki Maetani, and Akira Muraoka won over a field of 1,200+ entries from 73 countries for their creation of an earth-friendly alternative to plastic that uses agar, a jelly-like substance derived from algae.
