Abby Armstrong is a 30-year-old ocean swimmer from Hamilton, New Zealand who swam across the Apolima Strait in 2016 at the age of 28 in 6 hours 30 minutes. She was awarded the 2016 International Female Athlete of the Year by Samoa Events. She also completed a relay crossing of the Apolima Strait in 2017 with Jo Armstrong and Gerry Glover.

The Apolima Strait is a 22.3 km channel between Samoa's main islands of Upolu and Savai]i.
