Akiko Niide

Akiko Niide is a Japanese open water swimmer and a member of the Ocean Navi relay team.

Team Tsukuyo

Niide was a member of Team Tsukuyo, an all-female relay that successfully completed an English Channel two-way crossing between England and France. The team took 22 hours to complete the double crossing, negative-splitting the 42-mile swim in 11 hours 7 minutes on the first leg and 10 hours 53 minutes on the second leg. Its members (Etsuko, Hiroko, Noriko, Akiko, Masaki and Ayako coached by Tanaka) produced a beautiful hoodie commemorating their achievement on 30 August 2016.

Sado Channel Relay

Niide was a member of an Ocean Navi team included Masayuki Moriya, Motoko Honma, Hidehiko Kato, Kaori Fukusima, Noriko Kawasaki, Ayako Kawasaki, Yoshimitsu Kitazawa, Noriko Kimura, Jun Kuwabara, Kumiko Koizumi, Maki Sakamoto, Akira Shima, Etsuko Shima, Akiko Niide, Isami Mitsuhashi, Kyoko Morikawa, and Eriko Yoshino that took 16 hours 18 minutes to swim across the 43 km Sado Channel course in northwestern Japan.

Team Yajyu

Niide was a member of the チーム野獣 or Team Yajyu (meaning Team Beast in English), a 6-person Japanese open water swimming team that crossed the Tsugaru Channel from Honshu to Hokkaido on 26 July 2016 under the auspices of Ocean Navi and the escort of pilot Captain Mizushima of Tappi Misaki in Aomori Prefecture. Its members included 1st Tomonari Ogino (荻野 智成), 2nd Miho Yonezawa (米沢 美穂), 3rd Akiko Niide (新出 亜希子), 4th Takeshi Yamamoto (山本 毅), 5th Yumiko Okuda (奥田 由美子, and 6th Kumiko Koizumi (小泉 久美子)
