Allen Gilchrest

Allen Gilchrest is an American pool and open water swimming coach at Emmanuel College in Georgia, originally from Rahway New Jersey.

Coaching Career

With collegiate coaching stops including Hamilton College, Bethany College, Washington College, University of Maryland, Limestone College and the University of Wyoming, Gilchrest has coached 34 NCAA All-American's, 13 Olympic trials qualifiers, 4 NCAA national champions, 1 NCAA national record (NCAA Div. II 200 free relay), and 1 national collegiate open water swimming champion, Stanislas Raczynski at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Collegiate Open Water Championship in 2016.

With USA Swimming club and high school coaching stops including the Clinton Cudas Aquatics (New York), Shomen Aquatics (Maryland), Maverick Aquatics (Maryland), Badfish Aquatics (North Carolina) and Charlotte Country Day High School (North Carolina), Gilchrest has coached hundreds of age group swimmers, including 2 high school state championship teams.

Athletic career

Gilchrest swam competitively 4 years for Rahway High School and the Rahway Rapids YMCA swim team, breaking 7 high school and 7 YMCA swim records. In College, Gilchrest swam competitively 2 years for Kutztown University and 2 years for Rowan University, breaking 2 Kutztown school swim record and 3 Rowan school swim records.

Education

He earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science from Rowan University (1999) and his master's degree in U.S. History from Washington College (2003).
