Big Island Swimming Association

The Big Island Swimming Association (BISA) is a governing body and event organizer coordinated by Renato Ribeiro Barbosa in Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its 37 km course is one of the World's Top 100 Island Swims.
Five Marathon Swimming Courses
- The Challenge is a 16 km marathon swim that starts at Freguesia de Santana and finishes at Pouso. It can be attempted as a solo swim or as a two-person relay.
- The Island Escape is a 25 km marathon swim that starts in Lopes Mendes and finishes in Portogalo (Praia do Cazuza). It can be attempted as a solo swim or as a two-, three-, or four-person relay.
- The Sheltered is a 37 km marathon swim that starts at Meros and finishes at Abraãozinho. It can be attempted as a solo swim or as a two-, three-, or four-person relay. It was named as one of the World's Top 100 Island Swims.
- The Unsheltered is a 48 km marathon swim that starts at Aroeira and finishes at Longa. It can be attempted as a solo swim or as a two-, three-, or four-person relay.
- The Complete is a 76 km circumnavigation swim around Ilha Grande that starts and finishes in Palmas. It can be attempted as a solo swim or as a two-, three-, or four-person relay.
Successes
- The Ratto D'água team was a 3-person team from Niterói, Brazil with Alexandre Carvalho, Rafael Rocha, and Vitor Borges who completed a 76 km circumnavigation course around Ilha Grande, Brazil on 16 October 16th 2022 in 26 hours 45 minutes 51 seconds.
