Bill Goding is an American open water swimmer from Oahu. He is a retired U.S. Air Force Pararescueman (1971 - 1997) and lifeguard (1997 - 2013) from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Honors
- He was inducted into the Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame in the Class of 2015 in the Channel Swimming Category and recognized by the State Legislature of Hawaii.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- On 26-29 April 2023, he will serve as the escort kayaker for Stefan Reinke in the SCAR Swim Challenge, a 4-day stage swim in Arizona at the age of 63.
- At the age of 53 in 2006, he completed the Kaiwi Channel (26 miles) from Molokai to Oahu in 15 hours 55 minutes to join the Half Century Club.
- He crossed the Auau Channel (Lanai to Maui - 9 miles) a total of 26 times.
- Palilolo Channel (Maui to Molokai - 8 miles)
- Kealaikahiki Channel (Kahoolawe to Lanai - 17 miles)
- Kalohi Channel (Molokai to Lanai - 9.4 miles)
- Kaulakahi Channel (Kauai to Niihau - 17 miles) 2 times.
- He paddled for Penny Palfrey in the Kaieiewaho Channel and for other channel swimmers over the years
- He participated in numerous, and won twice, the Hawaiian Christmas Looong Distance Invitational Rough Water-Swim.
- On 8 August 2020, Stefan Reinke, Bill Goding at the age of 67, Lectie Altman, Marcus Guttmann, and Ryan Leong Guttmann finished a 27.3 km tandem crossing of the Kaulakahi Channel from Barking Sands Beach on Kauai to Ni'ihau in 11 hours 38 minutes.
