Black Cherry Barbecue

From Openwaterpedia

Black Cherry Barbecue is a type of KRAVE Jerky, a all-natural, whole-muscle cut, hand-sliced pieces of meat. The company was founded by Jon Sebastiani.

After bathing in a special marinade for 48 hours, the meat is baked, resulting in a moist and tender jerky experience unlike any other. KRAVE is entirely gluten-free and devoid of nitrites, MSG, and corn syrup.

Jon Sebastiani

Jon Sebastiani was training for the NYC Marathon in 2009 and he yearned for a way to satisfy his hunger. A businessman and father on-the-go, the convenience of traditional snack items was attractive – but the concern for his health and the desire for something delicious left him disillusioned – and challenged him to innovate beyond the expected. Sebastiani leads a team of die-hard runners, busy moms, and excited young professionals who push the limits and think outside the box to deliver a seriously satisfying and healthier snack.

KRAVE has been used as fuel in marathon swims and marathon relays in the Sea of Cortez and along the California coast including the 88-mile (141.6 km) charity swim and relay across the Sea of Cortez in Mexico together with Vito Bialla, Richard Earnst, Susan Moody, Mauricio Prieto, Luane Rowe and Antonio Argüelles on 1 June 2014. KRAVE was also used in the California Coastal Relay or the Nighttrain228, a 6-person relay by the Night Train Swimmers who set the world record for the longest non-stop ocean relay swim in history with its 228-mile (367 km) swim down the California coast from Point Conception to Coronado between 22-26 August 2013. Under the direction of captain Bialla, its relay members include Phil Cutti, David Holscher, Zach Jirkovsky, Luane Rowe, Blair Cannon, and Grace van der Byl.
