Melissa Berkay holds the fastest crossing of the Catalina Channel using the Butterfly stroke completed on 11 August 2016 in 12 hours 37 minutes. This was only the second butterfly crossing of the Catalina Channel in history. The first was performed by Vicki Keith in 1989 in 14 hours 43 minutes.
