Cecilia Biagioli


Cecilia Elizabeth Biagioli (born 3 January 1985 in Concordia, Entre Ríos, Argentina) is a 36-year-old 5-time Olympic and national record-holding pool and open water swimmer from Argentina who is coached by her brother Claudio Biagioli.

Open Water Swimming Highlights
- She competed in the FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Setúbal Bay, Portugal on 19 June 2021 and qualified for the 2020 Olympic 10K Marathon Swim in Tokyo on 4 August 2021.
- She swam for Argentina at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics as a pool swimmer.
- She qualified for the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympics by virtue of placing in the top 10 at the 2011 FINA World Championships 10 km race in Shanghai, China.
- She is a top-ranked professional marathon swimmer on the FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup series.
- She won the 2011 Pan American Games 10K race.
- She won the Cóndor de Oro by the Clarín newspaper and the Olimpia de Plata by the Círculo de Periodismo Deportivo (Circle of Sports Journalism) for her exploits in 2011.
- The 5-time Olympic swimmer and multiple-time national record-holding swimmer finished 17th in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
- At the 2009 World Championship she set the South American Record in the 400 free (4:10.16).
- She is coached by her brother Claudio Biagioli.
- She won the 17º and 18º Maratón Acuática Internactional Ciudad de Rosario competitions, the 15 km kick-off races on the FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix held annually in Rosario, Argentina.
- She won a silver medal in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2014 South American Games in Santiago, Chile.
- She won a gold medal in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2016 South American Championships in Paraguay.
- She placed second at the 2016 FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup professional marathon race in China on 9 October 2016.
- She competed in the 10 km race and the mixed 5 km team pursuit at the 2017 FINA World Swimming Championships in Lake Balaton, Hungary.
- She participated in the qualification race for the Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe - Coronda in Argentina on 25 November 2017.
- She placed 5th (2:02:12.0) in the 2011 FINA World Championships in the 10 km marathon swim in Shanghai, China which qualified her for the 2012 London Olympics, her fourth Olympic Games.
- She won the 2011 57 km Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe – Coronda in Argentina, placing 5th overall and was the first woman less than 1 minute behind the men's winner.
- She won the 15 km Maraton Acuática Ciudad de Rosario in Argentina on 9 February 2019, second stop on the FINA UltraMarathon Swim Series in Rosario, Argentina.
- She finished 2nd in the XVIII Pan American Games 10 km race on 4 August 2019 in Laguna Bujama in Lima, Peru.
