Berry Rickards is a member of the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Class of 2020

Berry Rickards is an Australian open water swimming representative who was a member of the initial FINA Open Water Commission that studied the possibility of adding open water swimming to the Olympic Games. He served on this commission together with Monier Sabre (Egypt), Roger Parsons (Great Britain), Jaroslav Novak (Czech Republic), Dale Petranech (USA), with Gunnar Werner (Sweden) serving as the FINA Bureau Liaison.

Namesake

The Berry Rickards event is a Swimming New South Wales-sanctioned 5 km, 10 km open water swimming event that is part of the Swimming New South Wales Open Water & Marathon Series, an open water swim series in New South Wales, Australia. It was named after Berry Rickards.
