David Heron


David Tim Heron (born 26 March 1995) is a 27-year-old American pool and open water swimmer from Mission Viejo Nadadores and the University of Tennessee. He is coached by Tyler Fenwick and competed in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.

Open Water Swimming Career
- On 16 July 2022, he won the 15.5 km Trans Tahoe Solo swim in Lake Tahoe, California in the inaugural season of the UltraMarathon Swim Series, beating the relay teams in 3 hours 25 minutes 44 seconds at the age of 27.
- On 1 April 2022, he finished 8th in the USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 10 km in Fort Myers, Florida.
- He finished 3rd at the 2012 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 10 km race in Miromar Lakes in Fort Myers, Florida
- He won the 2012 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 5 km race in dramatic fashion for his first national open water swimming title.
- He was named to the USA Swimming Junior National Open Water Swimming Team
- He represented the United States in the 7.5 km event at the 2012 FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Welland, Ontario, Canada
- He won the 10 km race at the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Championships
- He competes on the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup circuit
- He finished 2nd in the 5 km USA Swimming Open Water National Championships in 2015
- He finished 2nd in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada
- He won the 5 km race at the 2017 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships in Castaic Lake, California for his second career national open water title.
- He finished 10th in the 5 km race at the 2017 FINA World Swimming Championships in Lake Balaton, Hungary on 15 July.
- He qualified for the 10 km marathon swim at the 2017 World University Games in Taiwan.
- He was awarded with the 2017 Open Water Excellence Award.
- He won the 1.5 km and 5 km races at the 2017 Barbados Open Water Festival.
- He finished 3rd in the Crippen Cup 10K at the Open Water Festival in Miromar Lakes, Florida on 14 April 2018.
- He won the 2018 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 5 km race on 6 May 2018 in Tempe Town Lake, Arizona for his third career 5 km national title.
- He competed in the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships 10 km marathon swim in Chiba, Japan on 14 August 2018.
- He finished 4th in the 2019 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships in Miami, Florida on 3 May 2019.
- He won the 2021 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships 10 km in Fort Myers, Florida on 16 April 2021.
- On 8 October 2021, he finished 2nd in the 10 km Las Vegas Open Water Champions Cup in Lake Las Vegas at the age of 26.
2012 USA Swimming National Championship
USA Swimming Junior National Open Water Swimming Team
Coached by Bruce Gemmell and Dave Kelsheimer, the USA Swimming Junior National Open Water Swimming Team will compete at the first FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships held in 12-20 August 2012 in Welland, Ontario, Canada against swimmers from more than 30 nations, including Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa.
