Dofuchi Strait

From Openwaterpedia
Maejima and Shōdoshima areseparated by the Dofuchi Strait in Japan's Seto Inland Sea

The Dofuchi Strait in Japan is the world's most narrow strait with its narrowest point measuring 9.93 meters (32.5 feet). It was officially recognized by Guinness World Records in 1996. While it is officially a natural strait, it is often mistaken for a canal due to concrete embankments lining its sides between the islands of Shōdoshima and Maejima located in the Seto Inland Sea.
