Doug Potter

Doug Potter was a flight lieutenant with the Royal Air Force who was the escort pilot of a six-man 72-mile (115.87 km) relay that swam from Anima Bernie in southern Turkey to Kyrinia, Cyprus in 44 hours in 1962. The relay was led by Flight Lieutenant Antony Smith of the 26 Squadron RAF Regiment, escorted by an RAF Marine craft, and piloted by Potter. The relay was included in the 1972 edition of Guinness World Records (page 296).
