In Search of Memphré (or In Search of Memphre) is a 25-mile (40.2 km) international cross-border marathon swimming event on Lake Memphremagog Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association.

On the weekend marking the 10th Anniversary of September 11th, a band of 12 swimmer scouts and their boat crews will set out to cross the length of Lake Memphremagog between Newport, Vermont, U.S.A. and Magog, Quebec, Canada.

Mission

• To promote a more open border with between American and Canadian neighbors even as we support efforts to deal with terrorist activities

• To raise funds to support the continuing operations of the Indoor Recreation Center Orleans County which provides critically needed health & wellness services for people at risk such as those suffering from diabetes, heart disease and cancer

• This merry band will set out in search of Memphré, the famed (mythical?) creature of Lake Memphremagog
